Chapter Nine: One of the Guys

Class was the next day. I mostly came to this college because of the soccer program they had, I think that is why the other guys came here too. When I asked Heracles, he said he came for the history classes. "The history classes here are so... cool," he told me.

His voice was such a soothing tone; I always found you could calm down when talking to him, no matter your mood.

Mei was more into the 'wife courses,' as Gilbert liked to put it. She was a pretty good cook, and she could make a dress easily if she wanted to. I found out later we were completely different from each other, like she hated soccer! I got along with her, but we didn't really share any of the same interests. She would also ask me weird questions.

"Hey, when was your first kiss?" She said while I was studying one day.

"My first kiss?"

"Yeah! Tell me everything!"

"Sorry, but I've never had a first kiss..."

"Never!?"

"Nope..."

"Have you ever gone out with a guy? Like on a date?"

I thought back to when Roderich was in school. I had gone on a couple of dates with him until his dad found a better location for his work. I was sad to see him go, but he said we would see each other again.

"Yeah, I've been on a couple dates."

"How many guys?"

"One."

"I can't believe this. Is it because you looked like a guy in those pictures and the other guys didn't like you?"

"No, the thing is, I didn't tell everyone I was a girl until eighth grade. From kindergarten up I convinced everyone I was a guy, even myself."

"Oh god. Where they blind or something? I mean, you have a chest and you have long hair. You look like a girl from where I stand!"

"Well, I thought of myself as 'one of the guys' ever since I was little."

Even though she knew I was a tomboy, she kept asking me girly questions. So in response I asked her guy questions. Mostly about sports and video games. "What is your high score on Zombie Madness?"

"What's Zombie Madness?"

"It's one of the best video games ever!"

"I don't really play video games..."

"Really? Huh, that's weird..."

I couldn't wait to go and see my friends because I needed someone to hit in the arm, or to laugh about each other with. Anything but more chit-chat with Mei!

One month into collage, someone came and knocked on our dorm room door. It was early in the morning and Mei was still asleep, so I got up and looked to see who it was. I swear my heart skipped a beat when I saw who it was...

"R-Roderich?"
